Virus Prevention Tips Without Anti Virus
1. Disable autoplay
Many viruses make flash disk autoplay feature as one of the most powerful ways to infect our computers with viruses. What is autoplay? In short, autoplay can be defined as something that will be done by the computer when we plug our flash disk into it. How could a computer know what to do? All that is in the file "autorun.inf" which is usually hidden and is in the flash disk. If a flash disk is infected with the virus, usually this file has been modified to run a virus file in the flash disk flash disk when it is planted. Okay, now how do I turn off the autoplay it?
First, programs install Tweak UI for Windows XP here.
Second, open the Tweak UI program. Select the "My Computer"> "Autoplay"> "Drives", then remove the check from all the existing drives.
If so, press OK. You have successfully turned off the autoplay feature on your computer.
2. How to Open a Flash Disk
After you turn off autoplay, you can plug a flash disk relief into your computer. However, you must be careful in opening it. Start by opening "My Computer". Then first try to "right-click" on the flash disk drive will be opened. If it says "Autoplay" is at the top (before "Open"), then chances are you have a flash disk infected with a virus, but your computer will not be infected unless you run a virus file in the flash disk.
One thing you need to consider is to never open the flash disk drive with double-click on the drive (especially if you already know there is virus in it). Because, if you double-click, then the computer will run the top command (from the list of available commands when you do this right-click). So, how do you see the contents of your flash disk? Press icon "Folders" in the toolbar "My Computer", then click on your flash disk drive in the left side of the screen (the list of folders in a tree).
3. Beware of all the files!
The third thing you need to remember is, the virus can disguise itself! It could be a virus disguised with a folder icon so that you would not hesitate to open it (and only realized after that). But, the virus disguises could be dismantled easily. The trick is to select the menu "View> Details" in My Computer. After that, all files will be displayed in the form of detail, including the type of the file. One thing you need to remember, be careful of the file with type "Application" or "Screensaver". If you see a file with that type, and you are not sure that it is a trusted application files, I suggest to not open it.
So it is with your folders. The normal folder will have the type "File Folder". If you find the folder you have the type "Application", almost certainly it is a virus in disguise! Do not ever open it, or you want your computer infected with a virus!
4. Searching for the missing files in the flash disk because of virus
Sometimes viruses create a file that is in the flash disk as though we lost, and replaced with virus files with the same name with our files. Example: we have a folder with the name "folder", and the virus will "eliminate" the folder, and replace it with the application file "Folderku.exe" which is a virus. However, some viruses are not truly delete our files, but only hide it. This is usually seen from our flash disk capacity is not reduced. But how to access your files back? You can try to access it directly from the address bar in My Computer. Example: "F: \ folder \", and maybe you will go into the folder.
Then how to make these files visible again? First, click the "Start", then select "Run". Type "cmd" and press enter. You will enter into the command prompt. After that type "attrib-S-H + A [namaDriveFlashDiskAnda]: \ * / S / D". Example: if drive F is the flash disk drive, then you need to type is "attrib-S-H + AF: \ * / S / D". After that, check your flash disk again (remember the return point number 2, do not be hasty in opening flash disk drive!) And if lucky, you will be able to find your files again.
